Angerer Alm

In the best possible location right in the heart of the St Johann ski area on the Kitzbüheler Horn, the Angerer Alm can look back on 200 years of history, it is the oldest Alm on the Kitzbüheler Horn. Once known as the highest mountain farm in St Johann, it is now the homefrom-home for our guests. At an altitude of 1,300m, directly on the slopes and with the Wilder Kaiser right ahead of us, the clocks here really do go a little slower than down in the valley: Slow Food is not just a phrase, but everyday reality and enjoyment high up in Alpine loftiness. The crystal clear mountain air blows the cobwebs away, the jaw-dropping Alpine scenery is bound to make you forget about your everyday life and our team guarantees you are having a brilliant time. Come up, come in and relish!

Tyrolean inn & Slow-Food
Warm Tyrolean hospitality, regional products (some from our own farm), the very best quality and loving preparation are the excellent ingredients that we happily prepare for you. We are members of the ‘Slow Food Tyrol‘ Association and the ‘Tyrolean Inns‘ Association. It goes without saying that regionality and genuine quality are both a mission and an obligation for us.

Wine and creative design are our passions and as such the salons at the Angerer Alm have turned into a veritable work of art over the years – memorabilia from our past, antique country furniture, the green tiled stove, historic images from the region and many other lovingly collected details give the rooms a homely atmosphere – warm, intimate and inviting to stay. During fine weather, drinks and meals can be enjoyed al fresco on the terrace. A bar and a wine cellar are also on site.

Rooms with typical Alpine character
Our 13 rustic rooms are lovingly decorated and offer sublime peace and quiet. There are no TV’s, however the views over the mountains are absolutely unique and will stay with you forever. And because the Alm is a bit of an experience in itself, you’ll find a pristine shower and WC along the corridor.

The Angerer Alm is located just above the middle station of Harschbichl Cable Car. Kitzbühel can be reached within a 20-minute drive.

During summer the Angerer Alm is the ideal starting point for hiking trips. Numerous alpine pastures can be found in the immediate vicinity.

Arrival in summer
Take the main road towards St. Johann Süd, past Egger-Werk and the camping site as far as ‘Apfeldorf’ (at the place name signpost of St. Johann in Tirol). From Apfeldorf head for Kitzbüheler Horn. As soon as you reach the barrier, please call us on +43 5352 62746 and we will open the barrier by radio. Then continue along the gravel road, past the mountain lakes to the Angerer Alm.

Please note: at the mid-way station do not drive through the station but take the road on the right just before the ‘no vehicles allowed sign’. From Apfeldorf it’s about 7 kilometres. According to the road byelaws, drivers are required to drive in a moderate, slow, anticipatory and considerate manner on the roads!

For day guests and hikers, unfortunately it is not permitted to approach by car.
