The hike begins in Hohenstein, a village with few legal parking options, where “the fox says good night”. You walk along the asphalt road to the river power station. Through its window you can see a turbine turning. You can also park here. Then it's a leisurely walk along the Krems for about an hour; first on asphalt, then on a wide unpaved road over a ford that you have to cross to the “Zwickl”. From there you walk towards the Gudenushöhle cave and a privately renovated castle. Crossing the water to the Gudenus Cave over a few stones requires a balancing act. Then back over the water and --- for the more daring --- up to the stone hall, then via a path that requires surefootedness and a head for heights back down into the valley of the large Krems, along which you walk over a few bridges (one of which is closed, you can bypass it by walking through the river). After a longer walk, you reach the plateau again, where you return to Hohenstein via the village of Felling.

Only go to the stone hall if you are sure-footed and have a head for heights! Good footwear required for the water crossing!
