The hike from Grades to the Feistritz church in Carinthia is a delightful route through the picturesque landscape of central Carinthia. The starting point is historic Grades, known for its medieval castle complex and charming old town. The well-marked path first leads through gentle hills and along idyllic meadows before entering dense forests.
Along the way, hikers pass traditional farms and small chapels, offering insight into the regional culture and history. The route repeatedly offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains and the Glan valley. A highlight of the hike is the visit to the Feistritz church, which exudes a special charm with its Gothic architecture and tranquil location.
Rest areas along the path invite you to pause and enjoy the silence of nature.
From the Gasthof Bäckwirt in Grades, follow the green sign 4 towards Hintermarkt and south. At the Kirchweg junction, keep left and walk along the road until a footpath leads right into the forest towards Schnatten. You will reach Prekowa Street, turn right and continue on the road to the next junction. There, turn right towards Gasthof Regger and then follow the path uphill to the right to the Feistritz church. On the way back, go over Dörfler to Niedermarkt, pass the fortified church St. Wolfgang ob Grades, and return via Kirchweg to the starting point.
