A “bird hiking trail” stretches along the former Mühlsteig, on the “Sonnseitn” of St. Michael. The path partly goes over steeper terrain and requires a bit of fitness and good footwear. But you have a spectacular view over the upper Lungau and St. Michael.

Over twenty different species of birds can be heard and seen here. Some are depicted carved from oak larger than life. Along the way, “bird benches” invite you to linger.

You can watch the birds in the spruce tops through a telescope. Many of them are explained on boards and you can hear the voices of some of them at the push of a button.
