Sunnbüel high-altitude trails above Kandersteg at just under 2000 metres above sea level

The high-altitude trails on Sunnbüel are located on a plateau at just under 2000 metres above sea level in the middle of an impressive mountain panorama. The trails, totalling 16 km in length, wind their way across the Spittelmatte and offer four sunny cross-country skiing circuits as well as a practice area at the foot of various 3000 metre peaks.

The Sunnbüel feeder trails take you to the trails in just a few minutes. After a short descent via the "Unteri Matte" feeder trail, you will reach the Spittelmatte cross-country skiing hut, which offers shelter, seating and a toilet. This is the starting point for the 10 kilometres of trails on the snow-covered Spittelmatte plateau. Pleasure-seekers can choose the right loops for their needs, while ambitious cross-country skiers can link the individual loops together.

The "Oberi Matte" feeder trail takes you past the Wintertäli cross-country skiing practice area up to a high plateau. The 2 km long Altelsblick trail offers a varied circuit with breathtaking views over the Spittelmatte and various 3000 metre peaks such as Altels, Rinderhorn and Doldenhorn. An absolute gem, one round alone will certainly not be enough to see enough.
