This equestrian route links the birthplace of d'Artagnan (Lupiac in the Gers) to the village where he died (Maastricht in the Netherlands). This route follows the saga of this 17th century character made legendary by Alexandre Dumas. In Saône-et-Loire, over a distance of just over 329 km (from Chatenay to Remigny), the European Route of d'Artagnan links Champlecy (near Charolles) to Louhans, via Cluny, with a stopover in Sainte-Croix en Bresse Bourguignonne, where his wife Anne-Charlotte de Chanlecy is buried. In the village, an exhibition space "l'espace d'Artagnan" is dedicated to him. In Champlecy, a museum "Champlecy in the corridors of time" also traces the history of Mme de d'Artagnan.
