Calw - Monastery Route

CALW WIMBERG - HIRSAU 10.9 KM

• Start at the forest parking lot in Wimberg. Pass the game enclosure to Speßhardt. Follow "Kohlerstraße" and bear half right towards Weltenschwann.

• Turn right onto "Dorfwiesenstraße" to Altburg. Then turn right onto "Schwarzwaldstraße" towards the church. Pass the town hall for 250 m to the "Klösterle" junction on the left.

• Turn left at the village square and continue to Spindlershof. The route climbs through the town. After a left curve continue 180 m to the "Waldweg" junction.

• In the forest turn left downhill into the Schweinbachtal on gravel to the hairpin after 850 m. At the water tank bear half right then left down to Hirsau.

HIRSAU - OBERKOLLBACH 19.5 KM

• In Hirsau turn left onto "Calwer Straße" and go along "Wildbader Straße" to "Alte Badstraße".

• At the edge of the town climb about 1000 m to the right. Follow the gravel path to the hut at the Ernstmühler Platte and stay on the wide gravel path towards Oberkollbach.

• 350 m past the junction to Bad Liebenzell turn left towards Oberkollbach and follow the gravel path for 2.2 km.

• At a five-way junction bear half left, climb gently for 500 m and then turn right to Oberkollbach.

OBERKOLLBACH - CALW WIMBERG 36.3 KM

• Pass through Oberkollbach on the left and before the sports ground cross the street to Igelsloch. After 700 m turn right and follow the asphalt road to Oberreichenbach. Turn left at the forest edge and continue to Oberreichenbach on gravel.

• At the "Löwen" guesthouse turn left towards the campsite. After 250 m bear half right up the gravel path. After about 500 m turn right to L 346. Follow the bike path to the left and at the roundabout turn right to Weinstraße.

• On Weinstraße go 380 m to the "Streuwaldkiefer" junction, then turn left to the parking lot at L 346. Follow the ridgeway and turn left at the meadow in the forest. Cross two connector paths and follow the trail over the hedges.

• Turn right on the gravel path towards Zavelstein. At the forest edge first bear half right, then left past the hiking lodge. After 200 m turn left at the nature reserve steeply downhill to the Zavelstein Bridge.

• After the Zavelstein Bridge go right downhill for 2.4 km. At the junction take the lower path left for 1.8 km.

• Before the connector road turn left onto "Charlottenweg". Pass the forest playground twice on the right to return to Wimberg.

Arrival by car:

Highway A8 from Karlsruhe:
Exit Pforzheim-West (about 25 km); continue via federal road 463 towards Calw Highway A8 from Ulm/Stuttgart:
Exit Leonberg (about 30 km), continue via federal road 295 towards Weil der Stadt to Calw Highway A81 from the south/ Lake Constance:
Exit Gärtringen-City Center (about 20 km), continue via K 1075; near Deckenpfronn turn left onto K 1022. Take the first exit at the roundabout and continue on B 296 towards Calw. Plan your arrival by car at www.map24.de

Arrival by train:

Route Pforzheim - Calw - Horb - Tübingen (Kulturbahn). Long-distance train connections (EC, IC, ICE) are best reached in Karlsruhe with connecting trains via Pforzheim (Kulturbahn, line 774). If arriving via Stuttgart, we recommend continuing with the S-Bahn S6 Stuttgart - Weil der Stadt with a transfer to bus line 670 to Calw.
