Baiersbronn T6 Hirschkopf trail route

Start is at the parking lot by the outdoor pool in Klosterreichenbach. We warm up on side streets before pedaling strongly uphill to the Zimmerplatz hut. The view from here into several different valleys is fantastic.

Next comes the first trail right away. Caution is advised at a short narrow section. It's fun as it goes way downhill to just above the Masthütte. The subsequent climb partly leads over trails as well.

From the former quarry hut, it goes narrow, pine-needled, and rooty on a typical Black Forest trail towards Hirschkopfwegle. At the Friedrichstal stop, we cross the federal road and each person decides for themselves how to get down the following stairs.

Relaxed, it goes towards the Fischerhütte, where a stop is worthwhile. Afterwards, it crosses the federal road again and steeply climbs to the railway viaduct. Pedaling continues uphill towards Freudenstadt.

Anyone who doesn’t want to miss a cappuccino or an ice cream sundae at Germany's largest market square rides straight ahead at the Wilderer-Bänkle instead of turning left and reaches Freudenstadt city center in a few minutes.

The ascent is rewarded with a bunch of hairpin bends on the descent. We pass the spot where the trail threw us out of the forest earlier and ride straight on over several flowing trail sections.

From the quarry hut, it goes trail-like uphill and then flowing downhill again. At the next trail, there is a déjà-vu. These hairpin bends should look familiar to us.

With a wonderful view, we pass Klosterreichenbach halfway up. Those who have had enough turn left at Roßhalde and reach the spa park via a short final trail and back to the start. Those still with energy pedal another 150m of elevation gain and then enjoy one of the favorite trails of the Baiersbronn youth in the Reichenbach valley.

A shortcut option exists at Roßhalde.

E-mountain bike: Suitable for e-mountain bikes and experienced riders.

The route is suitable for young people from about 14 years old with very good fitness and riding technique.

Arrival by train: Klosterreichenbach stop, from there follow the mountain bike signage towards the outdoor pool (200m) Baiersbronn station, from there follow the mountain bike signage towards Klosterreichenbach (via Schankhütte) and immediately turn right at the Klosterreichenbach cemetery into the route (approx. 5 km).
