"Entspann di" on the Neusiedler See cycle path
Our guests love it and the ADFC has awarded it 5 stars. The most popular cycle path in the region: the NEUSIEDLER SEE CYCLE PATH (B10). Once around you have cycled 117.5 km. On romantic paths along the reed belt with a wonderful view of the lake and idyllic routes between vineyards, wetlands and salt lakes you will enter another world. This means not only relaxation for mind and soul but also the "awakening" of all your senses! Whether your children race ahead and you cycle behind, whether you make a fun outing in a cheerful bicycle group or whether you as a mountain biker seek a windy "challenge" – the Neusiedler See cycle path meets all demands. With your children but also with a fun group of friends you can shorten your route by a boat trip from Illmitz to Mörbisch am See. Don’t forget to take breaks regularly – not only for recovery! Whether you stop for refreshment at one of the numerous wine taverns or collect the diverse cultural offerings on your ride – enjoyment is certainly not lacking on this route. Always worth a detour is the lake, since each of the many beaches has its own charm! Always with you is the Pannonian sun that shines provenly 2,000 hours and 300 days a year from the sky. So off to Neusiedler See and get on your bike, because you can cycle here already from March, cycle, cycle…
Where is the best place to start?
Our tip for starting the route is Neusiedl am See. Here you find the main train station where trains from Vienna (only 40 minutes by train) and Bratislava arrive, and the entrance to the Neusiedler See cycle path is just a few hundred meters away. However, you can also start at any other town along the route, as it is a circular route! However, be sure to pay attention to the wind conditions, because cycling even against a light breeze can become tiring over time. So, whether you cycle clockwise or counterclockwise, it’s best to decide based on the current wind direction.
How much time should you plan for the tour around Neusiedler See?
Trained cyclists complete the route in one day. Families, on the other hand, like to shorten or "reward" their route with a boat trip between Illmitz and Mörbisch am See. If you don’t want to miss the natural spectacle, cultural highlights, and enjoyment, plan two to three relaxed daily stages! Depending on what else you want to see and experience, consider the additional distance and time required.
What is the surface like?
The Neusiedler See cycle path is largely nicely paved. There are only 2 exceptions that are gravel: a short section between Weiden am See and Podersdorf am See is in the conservation zone of the National Park Neusiedler See - Seewinkel and a short forest section between Fertörákos and Balf. The paths are therefore suitable for both touring bikes and mountain bikes.
What is the Neusiedler See cycle path like on the Hungarian side?
Only subtle differences to the Austrian part of the cycle path are noticeable. For example, the signage, but the information is still clear and complete. The cycle path in Hungary is partly newly paved, and the section between Balf and Fertörákos follows a completely new route through the vineyards with a fantastic view over the reed belt to Neusiedler See. The only disadvantage: some sections are unfortunately very steep (for Burgenland standards) and thus correspondingly strenuous, especially in summer.

Since many cycle paths are agricultural farm roads, agricultural traffic must be expected. Mutual consideration ensures that these paths remain pleasant for all users.
