Bad Sauerbrunn is located in the middle of the Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park and is known far beyond the borders for its healing water as a spa town. It is especially beautiful in this spa town when the roses in the rose garden spread their intoxicating scent far beyond the town boundaries, blending with the sweet taste of the Wiesen strawberries and the palate play of the drinkable DAC Rosalia Rosé wines.
The Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park is the youngest of the nature parks. It is characterized by a diversity of birds and plants. This charming landscape of orchards, farmland, hedges, shady forests, vineyards, and the Rohrbach pond meadows is accompanied by impressive buildings and historical sites as well as bathing lakes. This hike leads past the historic lime kiln, where lime was commercially produced until the 1950s, Burg Forchtenstein with its magnificent collections and events, the Rosalien chapel with the most beautiful panoramic view, and the Celtic village to the destination in Kobersdorf. There, Kobersdorf Castle and the synagogue await your visit.
Where Burgenland is only about 6 km wide, in Sieggraben, and borders Lower Austria, the nature park meets its counterpart, the Landseer Berge Nature Park. The Landseer Berge impress with plant diversity and the Landsee ruin with its great panoramic view, as well as the Pauliberg, of volcanic origin. It is located near the Landsee ruin and serves basalt mining. Basalt is one of the hardest rocks and is popular for garden design as well as in road construction. The small, quaint villages with their charm invite you to relax and enjoy.
You will walk partly on asphalt and on natural paths. Part of this hike leads through sunny sections, but also through shady forest.
