S21 Peace Circular Route

This appealing, almost 12 km long, circular hiking trail leads from the starting point at the Main Square Bad Tatzmannsdorf via Glockenstraße to just before the idyllic forest pond. Turn right towards Reiters Resort – along this path you can already catch a glimpse of the Hochwechsel. Continue along the marking through extensive forests and meadow paths to Drumling. Crossing this charming village once, a steeper ascent leads out of the village towards Stadtschlaining. If you let your gaze wander briefly to the left, you will again see the Hochwechsel. Now it goes to the medieval Friedensburg with its beautifully restored moat. The castle courtyard invites you to linger; a look inside the castle with its changing special exhibitions is definitely worthwhile. Before returning to Bad Tatzmannsdorf, take a look into the Jewish synagogue, located directly at the Main Square. You also pass the Protestant church and the Jewish cemetery; in Stadtschlaining, you repeatedly discover remains of the old medieval city walls.

Enjoy once more the beautiful view of the castle shortly after leaving the village, let your gaze wander a bit further to the left and you will discover the Hirschenstein, the second highest elevation in Burgenland. Then it goes along the marking through the forest, first over the Kohlleitenbach, crossing the Mitterriegel, past the idyllic forest pond, and back to the starting point in Bad Tatzmannsdorf.
