Witch's Path Neumarkt - Eisenberg

The hike starts at Gasthaus Holzmann in Neumarkt an der Raab. The hike leads through the picturesque village past the "artist village" to the Witch's Bridge (1.5 km). There the path turns left and leads along the fields and through a mixed forest to Eisenberg (750 meters). At the state road, turn left towards the village, past rural single-family houses to the fire station, the old clay storage, and the lawn cross (1.5 km). After the lawn cross, after about 120 meters towards Hotel "Das Eisenberg", turn left east towards the game enclosure. (At this fork, you have the option to hike to Hotel "Das Eisenberg" (400 meters) to recharge for the next stage.) At the fork, go left, down the forest path, over a bridge, and then uphill again to the game enclosure. Afterwards, hike 500 m along the enclosure uphill and then downhill until you reach the pond moor (valley floor). After the enclosure, go right, after 40 m immediately left. After 130 m you will reach a junction. Take the slightly right (pay attention to the marking!), paved forest path uphill to the Kodl forest house. After the forest house, the hiking trail goes straight for 1.1 km to the 3rd fork. From there, keep right along the paved path (1.4 km) until you come out of the forest and the picturesque cultural landscape is on your left. Then the route leads towards the mountain houses (450 meters) in Neumarkt an der Raab. At the fork, the hiking trail goes straight for 830 m towards the forest to the state road L255. Turn left at the state road; after 300 meters, the starting point, Gasthaus Holzmann, is reached.

A stopover at the mid-station at "Hotel Das Eisenberg" is recommended.

July and August have Strudel days every Wednesday at the Gasthaus Holzmann.
