Via degli Alpeggi

After parking the car in Piazza Gianni de Simoni, follow via Divisione Julia until you leave the village behind. The road now begins to climb (via Flavia), first gently and then more steeply until reaching a meadow where the first information panel is present. Continue straight ahead until the road becomes a path that crosses the usually dry stream. Continue uphill through a typical beech forest of the Val Resia, which in autumn amazes with the beautiful colors of the foliage. After fording the stream again and climbing a few more hairpin bends, you finally reach the pasture of Provalo, where the eponymous stavoli (mountain huts) stand.

A pause in the saddle is essential to breathe in the peace this place conveys and to admire the views opening towards Monte Canin. It's time to continue, leaving the stavoli to your left and taking the trail that climbs a few meters into the woods. This path, after a short stretch of up and down passing near Monte Tanaprovalo, begins to descend quite steeply. Be careful not to lose the trail near some fallen trees.

At an altitude of 800m above sea level, a panoramic view opens over the landslides and screes above Oseacco, where a few meters later, you must pay attention to turn left and not follow the trail that continues straight (look for the CAI marks on the trees). The descent continues through beech woods until the Ravanza pasture, where the outgoing path reunites. Then continue back along via Flavia until returning to the parking lot.

The route is not recommended after heavy rains as some sections could be slippery. In winter, ice is likely to be found on rocks and under leaves.

The hamlet of Oseacco is conveniently reachable via SP42. From SS13-Pontebbana, heading towards Tarvisio, turn right at Resiutta and follow signs for Oseacco.

Oseacco is also reachable from Tarcento, following SR646 towards Uccea. At Uccea, turn left following signs to Sella Carnizza and then continue on the same road past the hamlet of Lischiazze until reaching the junction with SP42. From here, turn right and continue to Oseacco. NOTE: The Uccea-Sella Carnizza road is often subject to maintenance works. Check its opening before following these directions.

Bus

Train

The nearest useful station is Carnia Station, located more than 20 km from the itinerary starting point.

At the starting point, there are several free unattended parking lots: GPS Point

Many other parking spaces are also available in the village streets.

It is recommended to take all types of waste home and preserve the places crossed as best as possible.

Remember that collecting plant species or parts of them is prohibited within the Natural Park and may be restricted as per Regional Law 7/2009 in outer areas. You can consult the list of protected species at this link.
