This impressive high-altitude hike leads from the Umbrail Pass (Giogo di Santa Maria) along historic military trails from the First World War to the Three Languages Peak (Piz da las Trais Linguas/Cima Garibaldi) and on through former positions, trenches and the legendary Lempruch camp. Along the route, log huts, observation posts and border fortifications serve as reminders of the time when Italian, Austro-Hungarian and Swiss troops clashed here. The hike combines unique military history with magnificent views of the Ortler Group, the Stelvio Pass and the Val Müstair, before the varied descent leads down to Sta. Maria.The hike impressively combines high-alpine nature with military and border history, offering spectacular views of the Ortler Group, the Stelvio Pass and the Münstertal throughout the entire tour.
After reaching the summit, follow the historic military paths along the former front line of the First World War. Passing trenches (trincee), caverns and observation posts, you reach the historic Lempruch camp. The varied descent then leads across alpine pastures and mountain paths down to Sta. Maria in Val Müstair.
The hike impressively combines high-alpine nature with military and border history, offering spectacular views of the Ortler Group, the Stelvio Pass and the Münster Valley throughout the entire route.
