Lahnpark circular route in Gleiberger Land

A good starting point is the parking lot on the southern shore of the Südsee. From there, the path runs along Lahnparkstraße heading north before turning west north of the Südsee towards the Dutenhofer See. The path follows the northern shore area of the Dutenhofer See up to the historic Lahn bridge at the fork in the road Atzbach/Dutenhofen. Then the path continues on the "Hochzeitsweg" past the birdwatching spot to Atzbach. There it follows the L3020 for about 300m up to the entrance of the Atzbach cemetery. After a short climb, the path leads parallel to the "Kanonenbahn" towards Heuchelheim. Wonderful and unobstructed views open up to the floodplain landscape. Further on, the Heuchelheim local history museum is passed. The path finally follows Akazienweg to the corner of Falkenstraße. Passing the Heuchelheim municipal administration, the path now runs over Linnpfad and Kinzenbacher Straße to cross Marktstraße. The path then runs through the historic settlement core of Heuchelheim and along the Bieberbach stream heading south. 100m before Ludwig-Rinn-Straße, the Lahnparkstraße must be crossed. The path finally runs parallel to Lahnparkstraße back to the starting point at the Südsee.

Another good starting point when arriving by car is the parking lot in Schwimmbadstraße in Heuchelheim.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The path section north of Dutenhofener See is not passable or only passable with suitable waterproof shoes during high water levels of the Lahn or after heavy rainfall. We recommend following the bike path south of Dutenhofener See along the federal road under such weather conditions. Please generally observe the water levels. Especially in the winter half-year, large parts of the Lahn floodplain can be flooded and thus impassable for walkers.
