Hike of the VR Bank Lahn-Dill eG on the Rothaarsteig route Wacholderweg on 24 May 2025

The starting point is the hiking portal at the parking lot of the community center Donsbach at 10:00 a.m. From there, the Rothaarsteig route “Wacholderweg” leads to the tree educational trail in the “Reistenbachtal”. It then continues through the nature reserves “Alteberg” and “Sauernberg”. Besides a juniper area, you will find a variety of colorful flowers on the extensively used meadows and pastures, including some rare orchid species. The path then leads over the old Rhine road with a short climb to the 454-meter-high Kornberg.

With its “Taunus view,” it offers magnificent sights to the south, in clear weather as far as the “Großer Feldberg” in the Taunus. But the wide panorama also extends to the north up to the ridge of the Rothaargebirge. From Kornberg, the path goes directly down to Donsbach and back to the starting point of the hike at the hiking portal by the community center parking lot.
