The circular route marked P19 leads from Datterode up to the Berliner Tower built in 1960, which is open year-round. From the top, there is a spectacular panoramic view. Along the route, wild orchids can be discovered in the limestone beech forests. Several viewpoints and narrow forest paths make the route varied. Sure-footedness is required in several places. The legendary Wichtelbrunnen at Spitzenberg invites you to take a break. It is open every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. (www.wichtelbrunnen.de, Tel. 0171 4410791).
Moderate route, with very demanding sections (steep path sections), sure-footedness required, ankle-high hiking boots recommended.
