Fancy a ride by the water?
Hop on your bike and calmly follow the banks of the Oise. A great way to discover the heart of this river which is the natural setting for Cergy-Pontoise. The route is easy to access and without major difficulty, suitable for both children and adults!
TO SEE ON THE ROUTE:
1. The Love Pavilion
Located on the banks of the Oise, it is a witness to a time when, in the history of parks and castles, there were lovers' pavilions, hunting lodges, hermitages and other belvederes.
Charming cut-corner stone pavilion with terrace, balustrades and steps, it was a place for romantic meetings in the 17th century. Once discreet, it is now clearly visible from the Neuville Bridge.
2. St. Christophe Church
In 1120, the Saint-Denis Abbey built a Romanesque church on the parish of Cergy. Over the centuries, the church underwent many transformations, especially between the 13th and 14th centuries. The extension project started in the Renaissance was never completed: today you can see the courtyard and the remarkable Renaissance portal by Pontoise architect Nicolas Le Mercier.
3. Cergy-Pontoise Tourist Office
The Cergy-Pontoise Tourist Office offers all visitors the chance to discover or rediscover the wealth of architectural, natural, heritage, cultural and historical treasures throughout the territory at the gates of Vexin.
4. Larris Park/Market Garden Plain
Natural area of fifteen hectares, ideally located on the banks of the Oise, the site is perfect for jogging as well as bike rides, walking or rollerblading.
5. Leisure Island
These artificial ponds were created on a sand and gravel extraction site used during the construction of the New Town. Today it is a nautical base with a white-water torrent, complementing the activities offered by the regional leisure center: cable skiing, rafting, surf waves, swimming, climbing wall, ropes course. A hiking trail allows you to circle the ponds in 2 or 3 hours. A bird sanctuary will delight nature lovers.
The site also regularly hosts major cultural events (concerts, etc.).
The London-Paris Greenway
By taking this loop, you will ride along the cycling route connecting Paris and London. You will see the signage for this route between Port-Cergy and Pontoise passing through the market garden plain.
This circuit is offered by the Cergy-Pontoise Tourist Office.
Be careful when crossing the Pontoise bridge and when circulating on the Pothuis/Eugène Turpin quays as well as Hermitage Street. These sections are shared with cars. The rest of the loop presents no major difficulties.
