Moderately demanding, great for a full day trip
From Hotel OtoÄec we reach Šmarješke Toplice along route 2. From Šmarješke Toplice we drive towards Šmarjeta and further towards Zbura. After crossing the stone bridge, turn left between the orchards. At the GriÄ pri Klevevžu sign, turn left down to the mill, where you will walk to Klevevške toplice. We return to GriÄ pri Klevevžu (left to the top of the hill), where we walk around the former estate with the remains of Klevevž Castle
We get to Mokronog in two ways:
a) across Äelevec (back between the orchards to the crossroads, where the sign for Äelevec is on the right). When we reach the main road along the village path through the hills and valleys, we turn left;
b) or along the marked main road Šmarjeta – Zbure – Mokronog. In Mokronog, drive through the old market town and at the sawmill turn right towards Martinja vas. After the descent, cross the river Mirna and at the crossroads turn left and then immediately right towards Dolenji Jesenice. After the ascent, we descend along the asphalt road towards Šentrupert, where we pass the church of Sv. We drive Rupert to the right towards Mirna.
After a slight ascent past Ponikve, where the river Temenica disappears, we drive past St. Anne and Zijalo to Mirna PeÄ, to the Novljan Inn (hayrack tour). Continue from the primary school, where we turn right along the road along the river Temenica to Vrhovo, where the river sinks again and comes to the surface in Luknja. Follow the forest macadam road past Luknja and PreÄna. Past the Adria Mobil factory to the crossroads at the barracks in Novo mesto, where you drive straight to the traffic light crossroads, turn right onto the ring road in the direction of Metlika, and then in the direction of OtoÄec and ŠmarješkeToplice.
