Tiebelgraben – The Gateway to the Nock Mountains Route | nock/bike G.12

The start of this route is at the Tourist Office Feldkirchen and leads past the main square down Bahnhofstraße to just before the train station. Here is the entrance to the R2C "Turracher Bike Path". From the "small" roundabout it goes along Gurktaler Straße to the Tiebel Bridge after the parish church. Above the sports field, you continue cycling to the underpass. Here you go underneath into Gärtnergasse and along it to Flurweg. You go a short distance uphill along Flurweg and then turn right into the connecting road to the hospital access. You now cycle the connecting road to the hospital access further and then turn right and continue until you come back to the "Turracher Bike Path". You now cycle the bike path left into the village of Poitschach. After a few hundred meters you reach the junction to Poitschacher Graben. The idyllic Poitschacher Graben leads through unspoiled nature, along the Tiebel to Himmelberg. In Himmelberg at the Landgasthaus Zeilinger, opposite the church, turn left and cycle a bit uphill along the federal road past Biberstein Castle in the direction of Feldkirchen. About 800 m after the former "Eiswirt" inn, take the steep turn right through the forest to Schleichenfeld. At the crossroads, continue right a few hundred meters to an ascent into the village of Linz, then through the forest to Nadling. From Nadling, it goes downhill into the village of Tiffen to the inn "Lobisserstube". Here, turn left over the Tiffnerbach and cycle on to the Bildstock. Turn right at the Bildstock and continue to St. Margarethen church. At the church, go left downhill to the village of Leinig. At the junction, turn left towards Feldkirchen. Then follow the R2 Ossiacher See Bike Path past the airfield towards Feldkirchen. In the village Rabensdorf, at the height of the riding stable, keep left and cycle along the Ossiacher See South Shore Road back to the starting point.

TIP: In Himmelberg, you have the opportunity to take a break. There are numerous sights here such as Bieberstein Castle, the Tiebel springs, an old scythe smithy and a well-preserved Venetian gate.

On the route, you also pass the historic fortified church in Tiffen. A visit to the church is worthwhile as well as a detour to the airfield, where you can enjoy culinary delights and even take scenic flights over Carinthia.

Culinary tip:

In addition to the numerous inns, restaurants, cafés and confectioneries in Feldkirchen, you can also stop for refreshment at the Landgasthaus Zeilinger in Himmelberg, the Gasthof Gfrerer-Lipp in Nadling and the Gasthof Huber in Tiffen. In Liebetig near Feldkirchen, you cycle directly past the Buschenschenke Ruppnig, which is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 4 p.m. in the summer months. Here you will find delicious Carinthian snack specialties and wonderful thirst quenchers.
