Curious: Here you can find first impressions.
The “Slow Trail South Shore” runs for about 5 km directly along Lake Millstatt and impresses with secret views of the other side of the lake. A natural mirror reflecting the dreamlike backdrop. The natural root path repeatedly offers the opportunity to experience the lake up close and to rest at hidden bays and sandy beaches. The gentle splashing of the waves and the play of light and shadow accompany the hike. Along the way, hammocks invite you to linger and offer space to slow down time. On the information boards you can learn more about the lake leases, fishing, and the history of boat architecture around the lake. The “Slow Trail South Shore” is more than just a hiking path – it is an invitation to perceive TIME differently, to relax, and to experience the lake touches with all senses.
Perfect family TIME:
“I was out with my 4-year-old daughter and our dog. Both really enjoyed the splashing and playing in the water and the shade-giving trees in the high summer.” Anke from Düsseldorf
Before we reach the root path by the water, the first views already impress on Seeboden, the plateau and the Millstätter Alpe to the north, the Gmeineck as a gateway to the world of the three-thousanders to the west, and the Nockberge to the east. During the descent along stairs directly to the lake, our everyday life begins to fade away, and the slower pace of life becomes tangible. At the end of the Slow Trail, we arrive at Wallreitereck, where we can decide to continue hiking to Döbriach or return to the parking lot.

Despite the southern flair, sturdy footwear is recommended. The path runs close to the water, so some wet spots are passed. The roots along the trail can be slippery when wet.
