The Höfl circular route in Central Carinthia is an idyllic hiking trail through picturesque landscapes and historic sites. The route is about 10 kilometers long and suitable for hikers of all ages and fitness levels. The path starts in the small village of Höfl and passes through varied nature, including dense forests, gentle hills, and blooming meadows.
A special highlight is the panoramic view of the surrounding Carinthian Alps and the Glantal valley, visible from several viewpoints. Along the path, there are informative boards with knowledge about the local flora and fauna as well as the history of the region. The circular route is well signposted and offers numerous resting places inviting you to relax and enjoy nature.
Small chapels and old farmsteads lining the route offer insights into traditional Carinthian culture.
The starting point is the parking lot in Olsa. The first part of the route is part of the Barbarabad circular path: first, you walk east along Zeltschacher Straße and then turn left onto Steinbruchweg. Follow this until you reach Gschwandtnerweg. There, turn left over the bridge, then continue right along the Olsa heading northwest until you come before Gut Höfl and turn right over the bridge to the branch church of St. Thomas. After the church, take the first path left across the meadow. Then turn left again heading southwest and follow the path to the next bridge. Now turn left once more, passing Gut Höfl and you will return to the path along the Olsa back to Friesach.
