With the Kirchheimer Valley route, you can discover Bad Kleinkirchheim from various perspectives. If you want to always walk in the sun, it’s best to start at Hotel Trattlerhof, go under the Sonnwiesenbahn and continue to the Kathreinkirche. This is a very special Kirchheimer spot. You should definitely take the time to look at the church’s crypt. There, healing thermal water bubbles from the rock wall. Many guests and locals visit the St. Kathreiner eye spring in the crypt to relieve their ailments. If you wish, you can also light a candle and pause for a moment.
In spring and summer, you will be accompanied not only by the sun but also by cheerful birdsong and babbling brooks. The benches by the wayside invite you to pause briefly, enjoy the view, and warm yourself in the fine sun rays.
Not only the Kathreinkirche is very special, but also the Protestant church, which is made entirely of wood and is thus unique to Bad Kleinkirchheim. You will also pass by the Catholic St. Ulrich church. After the districts Zirkitzen and Rottenstein, you arrive at the golf course. The lush green meadows invite you to swing the golf club and enjoy nature.
Now you have reached the other side of the valley and, if it is already afternoon, you will once again be accompanied by the sun until the end of the route.
Past the Römerbad, the Kaiserburg valley station and the Hubertus chapel, you go up one last time until, after Kirchheimerhof, you let your legs "lei lafn" and soon arrive back at the starting point.
Parking is available at Maibrunn parking lots 1 and 2. From there, follow the stream to Hotel Trattlerhof. Cross the main road and on the other side, a cozy country road leads along to the waterfall path. There, turn left onto a path that becomes a small hiking trail leading to the Kathreinkirche. North past the Kathreinkirche, follow the Sonnenweg through the Aigen district, past Gutzingerhof to the Protestant church. The Edelweißstraße then leads up a climb and before Urbanhof leisurely into the town center of Bad Kleinkirchheim. Above St. Ulrich’s church, walk slightly elevated parallel to the main road to Schubertweg. As noted before, the hiking trails repeatedly transition into normal local streets, as here again towards Zirkitzen. Over the Zirkitzenbach, past Stampflmühle and along Zirkitzer Weg to the Mozartweg junction. From Mozartweg, a small hiking trail leads to Rottenstein. There, you cross the road and are now on the golf course grounds. Following the signs, you can stroll comfortably along the forest edge with a view of the golf course back towards the town center. Past the large Römerbad parking lot, Römerbad and the valley station of the Kaiserburgbahn as well as the small Hubertus chapel, continue along the hiking path. At the trail fork, turn left and hike upwards towards Kirchheimerhof. Soon you’re done; going downhill leads to the parking lot, under the Maibrunnbahn.

The route partly leads over public roads and paths. Pay attention to vehicle traffic and obey traffic regulations.
