Starting from the mid-station of the Ankogel cable car, the path leads us uphill over a marked trail to the Hannoverhaus and further to the mountain station of the Ankogel cable car. Initially, the path takes us past small streams, bright larch forests, and then over lush alpine meadows until we slowly reach the barren high mountain landscape. At the mountain station, we enjoy a magnificent panoramic view; the Ankogel with its 3,252 m height and Mallnitz’s local mountain towers before us. We also experience steep views down into the Seebachtal and towards Mallnitz.
From the mid-station of the Ankogel cable car (1,945 m), the path leads us uphill, initially over the ski slope. After about 400 m, we reach the marked trail No. 518 (alternatively, from the mid-station, the path can be taken not as previously described over the ski slope, but the trail No. 518 on the left-hand side, partly steeply ascending; after 350 m you reach the previously described point again). The path now takes us over beautiful alpine meadows, past small streams, continually uphill, with about 700 meters of elevation gain ahead of us. To our right, we look at the "Maresen" - 2,916 m. Now and then, we hear a soft humming in the air when the Ankogel cable car passes above us. Slowly, we leave the green meadows behind; at a pond, we pause briefly and look back into the valley, in the distance we see Mallnitz, framed by a magnificent mountain world. Step by step, we approach the barren high mountains until we finally reach the new Hannoverhaus at 2,565 m. The Hannoverhaus is a category II mountain hut of the German Alpine Club and was newly built in 2013. In summer, the Hannoverhaus serves as an important base on the Tauern high route. After a short rest, we continue, strengthened, up to the mountain station. The path is marked with No. 518 up to the mountain station. For the descent, we take the Ankogel cable car.

On some sections near the mountain station, the path is partly narrow and leads over scree - good surefootedness is therefore required. For the descent, be sure to observe the operating times of the Ankogel cable car!
