Cheese circular hiking trail
Experience the meeting of two cultures on a leisurely hike in the Carnic Alps. A selection of traditional products from Carinthia and Carnia/Italy awaits you. Take your time, as overnight accommodations are available.
The Cheese Trail connects the Straniger Alm, Klein-Kordin Alm, and Rattendorfer Alm alpine pastures on the Carinthian side with the Cordin Grande, Valbertat Alta, Valbertat Bassa, Meledis, Casera Ramaz, and Cason di Lanza pastures on the Carnian side. It can also be explored on horseback or by mountain bike. The cross-border circular trail can be accessed from Carinthia via either Rattendorf (Rattendorfer Alm) or Stranig (Straniger Alm), and from Italy via Paularo (Cason di Lanza). Information panels are located at each station along the trail, which is also marked with yellow blazes.
