The Wilderness Route goes through the Wilderness work camp built during the construction of the Salpa Line. Of course, the buildings have not stood for a long time, but traces of life can still be found if you know how to search: stone bases of office barracks, meat storage pit, and water wells are among the easiest to find.
If history doesn't interest you, you can enjoy the beauty of Finnish nature and focus on fine nature sites. Such is, for example, the old larch forest along the path or the microclimate created by an old well under the shade of spruce trees.

The path is fairly easy to walk. If you want to explore the steel concrete bunkers along the way, you do so at your own risk, and it is good to take a flashlight. Note that your phone drops out of coverage when entering the bunkers.
You can reach the bunker museum via motorway E18 and the nearest ramp is 86. From there, access the local road, which is driven south towards Vaahterikko, and at the intersection with Vaalimaantie turn right. After less than a kilometer, turn right onto the road leading to the museum yard.
The easiest way to arrive is by your own car.
The area can be reached infrequently by bus from Hamina and Virojoki directions.

There is free parking next to the Virolahti Bunker Museum.
Most of the route runs along forest service roads, so it is easy to walk in all weather conditions. A small part is a new path in young forest, so in this section, pay close attention to your feet because of roots and stones.
Don't rush, just enjoy the atmosphere of the route.
