Trofeo Laigueglia

The route follows the racetrack of Trofeo Laigueglia Mountain Bike Classic, one of the Cross Country events with the longest history in Liguria (the first edition dates back to 1992). The route starts from the centre of the maritime town of Laigueglia. Pick up Corso Badarò and join Via Aurelia, in the direction of Andora. Keep going until you reach the saddle of Capo Mele, first turning right onto Via Orizzonte, then onto Viale Piemonte, until the junction with Strada delle Catene. When you are almost on the top of Capo Mele hill, on the scenic road overlooking the Andora valley, you have reached Via Cornice del Capo, where you can finally admire the magnificent view of the Laigueglia gulf. A little further on, take the first dirt road and go past Torre Casalin (lookout tower), from where the steep descent begins, taking you to the magical village of Colla Micheri. From there, an ongoing series of single-tracks take you on the ridge of Laigueglia, to be ridden for its full length. After the last struggle on the San Bernardo 'Nature Route', the track swoops down into a fantastic descent overlooking the sea, taking you back to the starting point. Don't miss the enchanted village of Colla Micheri, famous for being the home of the Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl (Larvik, 6 October 1914 – Colla Micheri, 18 April 2002).
