Lake Manzina

From the Ghiacciaio dei Forni hotel, the S528 and S555 trails lead uphill through a pure Swiss pine forest considered one of the most interesting in Stelvio Park. Above the Baite dei Forni, the trail flattens and heads west on a service track that leads to the baite of Pradaccio di Sopra. Upon entering the Valle della Manzina, take the right-hand path S575 which heads towards Monte Forni. At 2500 meters, on the side of the rock face of Sasso Prealda, the trail climbs zigzag on a steep grassy slope. A partially grassed-over moraine ridge is ascended and, among rocks and scree, the Lago della Manzina is reached. From here there is a magnificent view of most of the Forni basin, whose peaks are mirrored in the calm waters of the lake.
