Kaltenbachwanderung

Start your hike at the town hall, heading west along “Buchbergstraße.” Walk all the way down this street and turn left at the end. It’s quite a steep descent. Once you reach the bottom, continue to the right along “Alte Straße.” After about 500 m, you’ll reach “Hollenbacherstraße.” You’ll leave the town limits heading toward Hollenbach and reach the start of the forest nature trail. Following a well-maintained farm road through the woods, you’ll come to a major intersection of forest and hiking trails. Cross this intersection and take the path toward Kaltenbach. You’ll reach a well-maintained farm road, which you’ll leave by turning right just before a pond. Then the trail heads uphill toward “Hollenbacher Straße.” Along the way, you’ll come across the hiking trail that leads from Waidhofen/Thaya to the Predigtstuhl. You’ll reach “Hollenbacher Straße” (a quiet dirt road) and continue along it toward Dietmanns. After about 750 m, turn left onto a forest path and, a little later, you’ll reach a well-maintained farm road. Cross the high-voltage power line right-of-way, then turn right. The trail climbs gently until you turn left and, passing through the sports field and the “Am Osthang” neighborhood, return to the starting point of the hike.
