Enjoy nature and discover the most beautiful corners of Meinerzhagen on foot: all this is offered by our stage route "Wanderbares M". The approx. 50 km long hike, divided into 4 (half) day stages, leads in the shape of an "M" past the Badinghagen Water Castle, the Meinhardus Mattenschanzen (the landmark of Meinerzhagen), the Fürwiggetalsperre and through the Quellental and the Ebbemoore up to the heights of the Ebbegebirge and the Nordhelle (663 m above sea level).
Then it goes downhill past the Knochenmühle and the Chapel St. Maria Magdalena (Grotewiese) to the idyllic Listertalsperre. If you haven't had enough yet, you can discover more highlights on one of the numerous circular trails connected to the "Wanderbares M". At some points along the route, you can listen to exciting legends of the "enchanting world of legends Oben an der Volme".
The route runs on already marked hiking trails and is additionally marked with a white "M" on a blue-green striped circle.
Directly at the hiking car park awaits the legendary site "Der Willertshagener Teufelsstein". A few minutes' walk from the car park, the path leads us past an old cart track on the left-hand side to a small viewing plateau, from which we have a nice view of the flora and fauna of the Grundlosen, the source area of the Lister. Here is the legendary site "The Romans in the Grundlosen." The further path leads through meadows and forests and impresses with the wonderful quiet and beautiful nature. Reaching the ridge path, we approach the circular route "Volmeschatz Nature", which leads us around the Fürwiggetalsperre and provides exciting information. After circling the reservoir, the path leads back to the ridge path, which we leave after a short time to go down into the Quellental. In spring, a small detour to the Märzenbecherweg is also worthwhile, where thousands of spring snowflakes cover the forest floor like a carpet.
Different surfaces await us on this hike. Sturdy hiking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. Hiking provisions (food & drinks) should be taken along.
First aid: In an emergency, dial the emergency number 112. Provide the rescue point number. Rescue points are marked access points for emergency vehicles in the forest. If the nearest rescue point is not known, your location can be retrieved directly via AML (Advanced Mobile Location) during the emergency call.
