Embedded in the magnificent valley landscape lie the towns of Schlierbach, Nußbach, Wartberg, Inzersdorf, Micheldorf, and the district capital Kirchdorf. The route through these towns is mostly very moderate and flat, only the ascent to Grillparz – a magnificent viewpoint over the entire valley – and the path up to the Magdalenaberg Church involve elevation gain.
Each town has its own story to tell, so pilgrims are advised to take in the diverse views and insights and let them take effect.
The path leads from the Cistercian Abbey Schlierbach past Dorff Castle through the villages of Hofern and Ellersbach directly onto the new dam path from the retention basin into the Krem floodplains. Along the Krems River, there are wonderful resting places to pause, enjoy, and recharge. Also remarkable is the multiple change of perspectives, where the Cistercian Abbey Schlierbach, the Magdalenaberg Church, the Georgenberg, and Altpernstein Castle show themselves from their best sides, but the fascination always remains the same.
