The route can be divided into four different stages.
The first section of the mountain bike route leads you from Schaffhausen to Hallau. Here you discover the Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall in Europe, beautiful woodland areas and small wine-growing villages.
The second section takes you from Hallau to Thayngen. On the panorama road you enjoy an incredible view up to the Swiss Alps and continue over the wild and forested Randen to Thayngen.
The third stage leads from Thayngen to Stein am Rhein, a gem on the Untersee and Rhine. Along the way, a cooling off in the Rhine is worthwhile and in Stein am Rhein you will be rewarded with impressive facade paintings.
On the fourth and final stage, it goes from Stein am Rhein back to Schaffhausen. Idyllic eastern Swiss villages with half-timbered houses, cosy lakes and ponds accompany this stage. And in Schaffhausen, the Munot fortress already greets you from afar.
Stage 1: from Schaffhausen to Hallau
Via Rhine Falls and Jestetten (DE) you cycle over the wooded Rossberg into the sun-soaked Klettgau, one of the largest wine regions of German-speaking Switzerland. The route takes you along the vineyards through the picturesque villages of Osterfingen, Wilchingen and Trasadingen to Hallau, the main town of the Schaffhauser Blauburgunderland.
Stage 2: from Hallau to Thayngen
The route takes you from Hallau over the panoramic road to Schleitheim. Here is a climb to the Siblinger Randenhaus with magnificent Alpine views. Afterwards, a longer main stage leads over the wild and wooded Randen, partly on German soil. Multiple views of the southern Black Forest and the Hegau volcano cones reward you on this section.
Stage 3: from Thayngen to Stein am Rhein
„Through hilly cultural landscape towards the Rhine, where a refreshment at the Rhine shore park Gailingen (DE) is offered. Via Ramsen and Schienen (DE) the route leads you with a climb to the proud Hohenklingen Castle. From here you are rewarded with a magnificent view over the Hegau, Lake Constance, the Rhine landscape and the daily destination, the picturesque medieval town of Stein am Rhein.
Stage 4: from Stein am Rhein to Schaffhausen
On this stage, idyllic eastern Swiss villages with half-timbered houses, cosy lakes and ponds await you. Past the Nussbaumer, Hüttwiler and Husemere lakes, you reach via the Cholfirst forest to Feuerthalen and then into the medieval city of Schaffhausen.
A roadworthy bike, bike helmet, drinks and snacks for in between.
