The main towns crossed, rich in tourist points of interest, are, starting from Casale Monferrato (Baroque city and ancient Capital of Monferrato) Moncalvo, the smallest city in Italy with medieval origins, a small jewel perched on top of a well-known hill, famous among other things for the “Fiera del Bue Grasso” held every December since 1473.
The route passes through Asti, famous for its medieval architecture, its towers, and for being the home of Spumante. The route continues following the Tanaro Valley, divided to the north by the Roero boundaries and to the south by the Langhe hills, where stands the Tower of Barbaresco, another wonderful village along with Neive from which the Nebbiolo grape variety originates that produces the renowned Barbaresco DOCG wine.
Arriving in Alba, considered the capital of the Langhe, a city known worldwide for the traditional White Truffle Fair and the well-known Barolo wine produced in the neighboring hills.
The “Ciclovia Terre Unesco” Project was modified in 2021 due to reasons related to the National Fiab Italy Cycloraduno.
The first section no longer starts from Alba but from Bra, the capital of Roero, where you can arrive by train at Piazza Roma. A very important stop in the first section added to the Ciclovia is Pollenzo, an ancient Romanesque village of Bra, where the Castle was once the seat, in more recent times, of the royal House of Savoy and today hosts the important University of Gastronomic Sciences, managed under the aegis of Slow Food. From here, the route continues to Alba, the world capital of the white truffle and home to the famous Ferrero confectionery industry.
Another important modification of the route is from the small city of Moncalvo (the smallest city in Italy) following first the Asti hills and then those of Monferrato Casalese towards Ottiglio, the ancient Saracen village of Moleto, the Ghenza Valley known for its precious white truffle up to Cella Monte, a municipality listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy and the suggestive Rosignano Monferrato, perched on a tuff hill. This section is mostly on beautiful panoramic roads, among vineyards and Infernot recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2014.

The best period for the route, which crosses many wine-growing areas of the Langhe and Monferrato, is naturally during the harvest season (from August to September) although both in autumn and spring, the coloring of the vegetation encountered is intense and relaxing.
