A short stop in the hills of Monferrato, but one that can be extended at will to visit the numerous castles. In Acqui Terme we can visit the Villa Ottolenghi, the Paleologi Castle, now home to the Archaeological Museum and the remains of the Roman Aqueduct. Then, after a few kilometres, Prasco and its 12th-century castle surrounded by hanging gardens and then the small village of Morsasco with its manor house and the Castle of Orsara Bormida and its three towers from different eras.We will discover Trisobbio, one of the oldest villages in Monferrato, where the castle is worth a visit. Santo Stefano, with the Castle of Cremolino, from where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Alto Monferrato, while in Ovada the sounding Villa Schella Park welcomes us.
We leave Acqui Terme and, after the first slightly undulating kilometres, at the junction for Morsasco we can continue along the SP 456 to climb towards Prasco. We ascend towards the small village of Morsasco and descend towards Madonna Uvallare, where we can deviate from the original route to visit the Castle of Orsara Bormida. The route continues towards Trisobbio while a gentle descent leads us to Carpeneto, from where we follow the scenic Strada Costa to the village of Santo Stefano. A long descent brings us to Ovada

Take care when leaving Acqui Terme on the first stretch of the SP del Turchino road with its narrow roadway. Just past Trisobbio at the junction for Carpeneto, mountain bikers can take the Percorso Verde (Green Trail) path, which starts at an equipped rest area.
