Over 50 years ago, citizens of Schweigen-Rechtenbach established the 1st German Wine Educational Trail, which quickly became a visitor magnet and found fans far beyond the borders of the Southern Palatinate....
Over 50 years ago, citizens of Schweigen-Rechtenbach established the 1st German Wine Educational Trail, which quickly became a visitor magnet and found fans far beyond the borders of the Southern Palatinate. With time, a comprehensive redesign became necessary. After one year of construction with financial support from EU funding (Leader), the new Wine Educational Trail was opened at the start of the 2021 season.

1st Station "Old Press" at the Weintor, start and end of the Wine Educational Trail, information about the course of the trail, the construction history of the German Weintor and the chronicle of the German Weintor wine cooperative
2nd Station "Philipp Cuntz" at the former water reservoir, information about the history of viticulture and the Wine Educational Trail
3rd Station "Pests" with the phylloxera monument, information about vine pests and vine diseases
4th Station "St. Urban", information about the wine saints
5th Station "Small Weintor" at Alfred-Wasner-Platz with the vine planting of the German Wine Route, information about the history of the German Wine Route
6th Station "Ehrenhain", information about the lives of honored wine personalities
7th Station "Sonnenberg", information about the geology and nature conservation at Sonnenberg
8th Station "Grape Varieties", information about the main grape varieties grown on Sonnenberg
9th Station "Sesel", information about the eventful history at Sonnenberg and about the peculiarity that German wine grows on French soil
The Wine Educational Trail begins and ends at the press house at the German Weintor.
On the opening days of the Sonnenberghütte, a corresponding notice is posted there.
The path leads into the vineyards on the outskirts of the village, from where you have a wonderful view over Schweigen-Rechtenbach up to France. Over the Sonnenberg, the route returns back into the village.
