Forest educational trail at Taubensuhl

The start of the forest educational trail is just a few meters from the forest inn and parking lot at the actual Forsthaus Taubensuhl. A large sign at the edge of a clearing marks the beginning of the 3 km circular trail, which is signposted with waymarkers and leads us past 13 stations. We "swing" into the educational trail at the first station and hike north on a wide, flat forest path. Passing the “Zuwachsburg” and the “Baumtelefon,” we reach a fork in the path, where we keep left to reach the info stations “Annual Rings” and “Viewpoint.” At the latter, we can overlook the forest around us from a high seat. Soon after follow an intersection and the station “Forest Swing.”
Here we turn left, listen to the sounds of the forest at the seventh station, pass the station “Network,” and come to a clearing with a wooden hut. Here is also an insect home that provides many small creatures with a habitat. After examining this unusual dwelling, we turn left onto a gravel path. Now it goes past a sensory trail, which we should walk barefoot on, to the jumping pit. Here we can measure our jumping power and compare it with that of various forest inhabitants. On the last section, we encounter “Insights and Outlooks,” the forest classroom, and a forest xylophone. After making the forest sound, we finally reach the clearing at Forsthaus Taubensuhl, where we started.

In autumn, the wood harvest associated with forest maintenance traditionally begins. In the Landau city forest at Taubensuhl, work will also be carried out in the coming weeks in the area of the forest educational trail. The Haardt Forestry Office strives to organize forestry work so that the trail can be visited with minimal disruption. Detours will be set up as needed. However, there may be daily closures of sections of the forest educational trail.
