Now begins a long, enjoyable section through meadows and fields with a lively up and down – with the "down" predominating, so you reach the beautiful Niedtal valley in a relaxed manner. Right on the river is a beautifully located restaurant where you can refresh yourself while listening to the sound of the water. Further on, you cycle always along the border to France.
At Berus, you reach the 16-meter-high Europe Monument at the summit of Linsenhübel, from where you can enjoy the wide view into Saarland and as far as France. Then you roll down through the shady Barus Forest to the stage destination Überherrn, where there are some overnight accommodation options, a campground, and an outdoor swimming pool. There is no train connection in Überherrn. This stage mainly runs along the German-French border.
The area is very sparsely populated, and along the cycle path, there are hardly any overnight accommodation options, which is why this stage is somewhat longer. If the stage is too long for you, you can turn off onto the Niedtal Cycle Path in Hemmersdorf. Over the beautiful route, you reach Siersdorf or Dillingen, where there are many accommodations. This shortens the route to about 50 kilometers and saves you some elevation meters. The next day, you can cycle back along the Niedtal Cycle Path and then follow the Saarland Cycle Route again. Alternatively, from Dillingen, you can continue cycling along the Saar Cycle Route to Saarbrücken.
