Starting from the Felben district, you can already enjoy the view towards Zell am See on one side and the sight of the rugged Pihapper (2,513 m) on the other during the ascent. Before reaching the Unter- and Oberehrenfeichten alpine pastures, turn sharply left and head east towards Scheibelberg. The descent now winds through an enchanting forest, past bubbling streams, before you reach Lambach Castle in the valley, first mentioned in official records in 1352. Passing the Hohe Tauern golf club, the route then leads back to Felben and the last few meters back to the starting point of the route.
From the Mittersill town square, continue to the Felben district and from there along the Felberberg to the junction at Unterehrenfeichten. Follow the path further and over Scheibelberg past the hunting lodge, before the path turns sharply left again towards Mittersill. Upon reaching the valley, the path leads through Wilhelmsdorf via the Tauern cycle path back to the town center.
CX/gravel bikes are best suited; light hardtail mountain bikes are slower on the flatter sections but also work well. Also bring provisions, a helmet, gloves, and rainwear.
Experience with gravel is important. However, if you are mainly used to road cycling, a preparation course (www.bikeaustria.com) is recommended. Stable braking technique is important when riding quickly on gravel with CX tires.
The Mittersill-Hollersbach-Stuhlfelden region is very well accessible by public transport.
There are ample parking options available in the center of Mittersill (partly short-term parking zone!)
