The enchanting bike route continues over winding paths to the Siggen estate for a small coffee stop. Siggen is one of the oldest estates in Ostholstein, with a history dating back to the Middle Ages. The manor house was rebuilt several times, the farm buildings were newly constructed in 1934 after a fire. Alfred Toepfer acquired the estate with its extensive farmland in 1932. Since 1970, the manor house Siggen has been used for foundation activities.
The route leads back south, over Fargemiel a short stretch along the B501 to the entrance of Grube. Past St. Jürgen Church, one of the oldest churches in Schleswig-Holstein, first documented in 1232, the path goes into Gruber Seekoog. With some luck you may see sea eagles circling or catch a glimpse of the kingfisher living here. At the viewing platform of Paasch-Eyler-Platz with a fascinating view over the former Gruber Lake, the history of Grube comes alive. Via Altrathjensdorf and Morest, the path continues to Poggenpohl and then to Cismarfelde. Here stands not only Ostholstein’s first land art piece, Eike Steensen from Hof Steensen offers cheese and tomatoes from own farm production. It continues through the artist village of Cismar, past the House of Nature. At Apfelhof Grimm cyclists await very special apple varieties. Up to 18 apple varieties grow on the Bioland certified farm, operated in the third generation of fruit growing. Over Wintersberg and Guttau the path leads back to Gruberdieken to the farm shop “Dat achtere Rahland”. Various farm-made products are available for tasting or be tempted by waffles with homemade plum jam before the tour ends shortly thereafter in Grube at the village museum.
The tasting route starts at the village museum in Grube, Hauptstraße 18. Along the B 501 it goes north, past the Rosenhof estate, 50 m further turn right to Siggeneben and follow the street all the way to the end of the village. Turn right here and follow the field path to a small wood, turn left there and reach Rosenfelde via a young avenue. Cross the farm and turn left onto the road. At the next intersection, turn right, follow the road towards Süssau and continue to the Siggen estate.
Keep left and bypass the estate, turn left again and follow a winding path until you reach the B 501. Turn left here and cycle along the B501 over Fargemiel to the entrance of Grube. At the Akropolis restaurant turn right, pass St. Jürgen Church up to Paasch-Eyler-Platz. From the viewing platform of Paasch-Eyler-Platz you will experience a fascinating view over the former Gruber Lake. Leave the plaza to the right and cycle into Gruber Seekoog. Turn left, shortly after turn right, follow the sandy path to the next fork and turn left again. Follow the path until you meet the old Totenweg, turn left there until you reach L 231 in Altratjensdorf. Turn right here and follow L 231 to Gosdorf. Turn left here and follow the road past Poggenpohl until you reach L 58. Turn right here and follow the road until you reach Hof Steensen on the right. Not only is Ostholstein's first land art piece here, Eike Steensen from Hof Steensen sells cheese and tomatoes from farm production. The route leads back on L 58 until we reach the artist village of Cismar. We turn left and follow Bäderstraße, pass the House of Nature and just past Henriettenhof turn left towards Apfelhof Grimm. Up to 18 apple varieties grow on this Bioland certified farm, which has been growing fruit for three generations. We leave the apple farm to the left and follow the path over Wintersberg to Guttau. Here turn left through the village Guttau and continue along the road past Gruberfelde until we meet B 501 again at the entrance of Grube. Follow the main road and turn right after the cemetery towards Dahme. Follow K 50 until you reach Hof Stabe and the farm shop “dat achtere Rahland” on the right. Return to the town of Grube and end the route at the village museum.
