Start in the town center of Neustadt am Rennsteig at the Rennsteig information and walk along the Rennsteigstraße to the gas station at the town exit. From there, continue on the same side over the Rennsteig (meadow path) to the barbecue hut. Turn left there and follow the forest path over the blooming mountain meadows. Upon reaching the forest, follow the gravel path slightly to the right and enjoy the tranquility of the forest.
After about 2 km, please take the short path to the left up to the Haube summit/viewing tower and enjoy the wide view over the Thuringian Forest and the Thuringian Slate Mountains.
Then take the small "descent" again and follow the gravel path to the left past Rolandshütte to the Pilzsteig into the Reuscheltal. At the hiking trail intersection, turn left again and gradually ascend on the Pilzsteig towards Neustadt am Rennsteig. Pass the Reuscheltaler pond and continue to the Moonlight meadow back to Neustadt am Rennsteig.
