Circular hike - "Small Katzenstein circuit" - Bad Blankenburg
This rock owes its name to the depiction of a cat which was once formed by natural coloring in the rock. Today, the drawing of a black cat decorates the rock and a bench invites you to rest.

From the Chrysopraswehr parking lot towards Schwarzeck - before the gate turn right onto the path towards Katzenstein - Katzenstein - back to the junction "Katzenstein" - zigzag path downhill to the riverside path - riverside path to the parking lot at Chrysopraswehr

Follow the instructions of the forest staff and pay attention to any restrictions due to forestry work.
Coming from the A71 take exit 14b (Stadtilm) and then continue on B90n towards Rudolstadt. In Rudolstadt switch to B85 / B88 and drive south towards Saalfeld / Bad Blankenburg. Immediately at the Schwarzamündung, B88 turns right towards Bad Blankenburg. At Bad Blankenburg station, turn left onto Wirbacher Straße and follow Dittersdorfer Weg from the outdoor pool.

If you like, you can extend the route a little. Simply follow the path around Katzenstein to the end and then downhill through the Werretal back to the parking lot. Total length approx. 3.5 km
