We start our hike at the hiking parking lot in Breitenbach. From the parking lot, we walk north into the forest and follow the signs towards the Vessertal circular hiking route.

We start our hike at the hiking parking lot in Breitenbach. From the parking lot, we walk north into the forest and follow the signs towards the Vessertal circular hiking route.
We pass beautiful streams and wild forest areas, enjoying the wonderful views and birdsong. Along the way, numerous information boards provide details about the flora and fauna of the Vessertal.
A highlight halfway along the route is the Barefoot Path, where you can experience the forest with all your senses.
The next section features a fitness trail called the Generations Vital Route, offering entertaining stops that may cause the hike to take longer than planned.
At a station of the fitness trail at the Large Beech tree, there is an opportunity to rest and refresh before heading back towards Breitenbach.

Please stay on the trails. Please do not make noise. Please do not collect stones or minerals. Please do not pick mushrooms. Please do not leave trash behind. Please do not feed animals. Please only camp in marked areas. Please do not make open fires. Please do not pick plants. Please do not relocate plants or animals.Take the A73 exit Schleusingen and follow signs towards Suhl.
From Schleusingen towards Suhl, then take the turnoff to St. Kilian. Continue straight on to Breitenbach.
The parking lot is located at the town exit.
From Schleusingen and Suhl, take bus line 201 to the Breitenbach hiking parking lot stop
Parking is available free of charge at the Breitenbach hiking parking lot.
Be sure to walk the Barefoot Path (Path of the Senses), it's a wonderful experience!
