Start the hike in Oberhof heading north. Shortly after the Panorama Hotel, turn off to "Schlossbergkanzel, Lütschetalsperre". Follow the "Green bar" marking. A first small stop is recommended at "Breitenbornsteich". Here, hike downhill towards Lutsche. Shortly before the memorial stone "Soldatenborn", you can take the path over Schlossbergkanzel. After the somewhat steeper ascent, you reach the viewpoint. A well-deserved break with a view, then walk back about 100 meters from Schlossbergkanzel, turn right towards Lütschetalsperre. This path also has a greater descent, this time downhill. If you prefer the hike without ascent here, stay on your original path and go straight at the "Soldatenborn" memorial stone. At Lütschetalsperre, walk left, now uphill again towards Oberhof. Follow the yellow cross. When you reach "Wegscheide", you have earned a break.
Oberhof information via Theo-Neubauer-Str. to Nordknoten, turn right through the underpass, through Langer Grund to the Lütschetalsperre, left along the shore to the Steinbruch junction, uphill to Wegscheide, back via Herrenweg.
Sturdy hiking boots, rain or sun protection, and sufficient drinks.
Warning after storms, risk of windthrow. Caution during forestry work.
Coming from the A71, exit 18 (Oberhof) and continue on L3247 towards Oberhof. Turn right towards Oberhof (center) at the first possibility from the country road. From L3247, turn off at the "Nordknoten" Oberhof towards the Panorama Hotel.
Reach Oberhof from the direction of Zella-Mehlis. From there, take bus line 422 to the Oberhof bus station. For travel planning, simply use the Deutsche Bahn travel information at this link:

Bus line 423 - stop "Oberhof, Am Friedhof"
As holders of the Oberhof guest card, the use of Oberhof city line 423 is completely free of charge.
Just behind the forest cemetery, you will find the Am Wadeberg parking lot. Partially chargeable. (Google NAV point) or in the town center at the Kurpark near the Oberhof information.

Stop at Wegscheide and enjoy a Thuringian bratwurst. Afterwards, there is a refreshment opportunity at the campsite by the Lütschetalsperre.
