The Sculpture Circular Route is a varied and culturally and historically interesting hiking trail through the idyllic landscape of the Grabfeld. It starts at the central square of Behrungen, the Manger, where the cultural center and some Franconian half-timbered houses are located. The 8 km long path is marked with a green circle and the number 1.
Follow Bahra Street and turn right onto Herrenhausweg until you reach a seating area. Here you can take a break with a wonderful view of Behrungen and the Hochrhön. Continue straight ahead towards Hochrhön until the path turns left between the fields. Straight ahead you will reach the Behrungen forest where the sculpture path begins. Here you can admire the wooden sculptures by chainsaw artist Marcel Lindner. The sculptures depict animals, humans, and fantasy creatures. After the sculpture path, after about one kilometer, you reach the German-German open-air museum Behrungen, which recalls the time of the inner-German border. Here you can visit an earth bunker, an observation tower, and informative panels which provide insight into the history and everyday life of the border region.
From the open-air museum, take a left turn and continue about 600 m along the country road towards Behrungen until you turn right onto a field path towards the edge of the forest. Along the way, you will experience an impressive view of Behrungen.
The last section of the circular route takes you past the Behrungen pond and then left along the village edge. Here stands a beautiful bench decorated with forest animals by Marcel Lindner. Along the winding farm road, you reach the Behrungen fire brigade. There, another seating group by Lindner invites you to rest. This seating group shows motifs from village life. Then turn right again onto Bahra Street and back to the starting point at the Manger.
