Arlberg Trail Stuben am Arlberg - Lech am Arlberg

From picturesque Stuben, the gateway to the Arlberg, the route takes you along the village street, over a forest track, past the old swimming pool and towards Flexental. Shortly after the Mondscheinhütte (unmanned), you cross the Flexenbach stream and the path becomes briefly steeper on the Franz Josef Trail towards the Flexen Pass. During the hike, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Stuben, situated at an altitude of 1,407 metres. Soon after, as you continue past the Flexen Pass, you’ll reach the European watershed. The trail then descends gently towards Zürs. After a short walk through the village, you’ll reach the Seekopfbahn at the edge of the village. It takes you up to 2,212m. Up here, you’ll not only be rewarded with a stunning view of Lake Zürs, but the Seekopf Panorama Restaurant also offers an excellent opportunity to stop for refreshments. After Lake Zürs, the path climbs steeply uphill until you reach a small, very peaceful cotton grass plain. You then tackle the final ascent to the Madlochjoch at 2,444m. From there, following the route of the ‘Weißer Ring’ (White Ring) – well-known in winter – you descend via the Gstütalpe over rocks and alpine meadows with views of Lech am Arlberg. Before the end of this stage, the stunning view of Lech am Arlberg, situated at 1,450m, is particularly breathtaking.

Safety in the mountains

From Germany: Take the A96 to Bregenz, then the A14 to Bludenz, and continue on the S16 to the Lech Zürs am Arlberg exit. Take the B197 to Stuben am Arlberg.

From Switzerland: Take the A13 and cross the border at Feldkirch, Hohenems or Lustenau onto the A14 to Bludenz. Continue on the S16 to the Lech Zürs am Arlberg exit. Follow the B197 to Stuben am Arlberg.

From Austria: Take the A12 Inntal motorway and continue on the S16 to the St. Anton am Arlberg (Arlberg Pass) exit. Follow the B197 first through St. Anton, then through St. Christoph and over the Arlberg Pass to Stuben am Arlberg.
