The Furggu trail starts at the Dorfplatz of Saas-Almagell and initially follows the main road to Zermeiggern. Here the actual snowshoe trail begins and from here you can put on your snowshoes. After the bridge in Zermeiggern, the trail branches off and zigzags through the larch forest up to the beautiful Furggtälli. First, it goes up to Stutzbode and further to Stafel, where a small alpine pasture is still operated today. After the bridge by Stafel, the path turns west and leads over Furggu and Chalchofe to Elschgrabe and down to Chapf. The path finally ends in the middle of the Furggstalden ski area above Saas-Almagell, where several scenic places to stop for refreshments are offered. For the descent, the chairlift from Furggstalu to Saas-Almagell is recommended.

Use of the snowshoe routes and information on this website is at your own risk. Conditions on site can lead to route changes.
Snowshoe routes require increased attention and caution regarding weather conditions, avalanche situation, and risk of slipping. Only use marked routes and observe all signs and instructions—for your own safety, the protection of livestock, and to avoid disturbing wildlife. Plan your trip carefully: consider the required fitness of all participants, the weather forecast, and the season. Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Appropriate clothing and sufficient provisions (food and drink) are very important. In unstable weather, it is better to turn back early. Pay attention to warning signals indicating dangers, especially avalanche risk. Inform third parties about your trip and try not to go alone. Do not go on glaciers without a mountain guide. The Saastal is easy and convenient to reach by car from all directions, whether from Switzerland or abroad.
