Circular hike Jeizibärg

From the valley station of the cable car in Gampel, you first head for the village square with the Agatha fountain. You leave the village via Fabrikstrasse, turn left at the edge of the forest and reach the old chapel "Zu den spitzen Steinen". On the Jeiziwäg you climb between firs and larches as well as over the terrace landscape of the Zälg into the idyllic village of Jeizinen. The new, artistically designed chapel is worth a visit there. It continues on to the hamlet of Engersch, characterized by sun-tanned wooden houses and its chapel dedicated to the Valais patron saint Theodul. Majestically, the Weisshorn rises on the opposite side of the valley. Now you hike down into the rustic Valais village of Bratsch. Not only the location, but also the original Valais language and customs make the mountain village worth seeing. Surrounded by the Mediterranean-like flora and fauna of the Sonnenberg, you finally walk back down to Gampel.

By bus or post bus to Gampel (Line Leuk - Turtmann - Gampel-Steg - Visp or Line Gampel-Steg - Hohtenn - Goppenstein - Blatten - Fafleralp) or by train to Gampel-Steg station

The hike can be conveniently shortened with the cable car from Gampel to Jeizinen. The ride offers a wide view over the Rhone Valley and the scattered mountain villages.
