The path starts in the idyllic village part Bidermatten, which, despite its proximity to Saas-Grund, belongs to the municipality of Saas-Balen. The old, still inhabited houses and narrow lanes give an impression of life in past times.
From the main road, the path leads through the village part Bidermatten heading west. After crossing the Biderbach, you reach the outer edge of the Bideralp. Here the path branches uphill towards Stafelti. At Schwarzbergweid you meet the Grächen high trail, which leads over the Senggbodu and the Bärufalla to Saas-Fee Wildi.

Carry sun protection. UV rays at altitude can be very strong, even in cloudy weather.
Plan your hike carefully: take into account the fitness required of all participants, weather forecasts and seasonal influences.
Weather conditions in the mountains can change very fast and without warning. Appropriate clothing and sufficient supplies (food and drink) are very important. Turn back early in case of unstable weather.
Do not enter glaciers without a mountain guide.
Observe warning signs indicating dangers.
Inform third parties about your route and, if possible, never go alone.
Check the opening times of the mountain railways.
The Saastal is easily and conveniently reachable by car from all directions, whether from Switzerland or abroad. From the north, you reach us via Bern through the Lötschberg car shuttle. From the east, you come via the Furka pass or the Furka car shuttle. From the south, we are accessible via the Simplon pass or the Simplon car shuttle, and from the west, you drive via Lausanne along the Rhone valley to Visp and from there towards Saas-Fee. From Visp, drive south towards Saas-Fee. At the "Killerhof" roundabout near Stalden take the second exit to Saas-Fee and follow the main road to Saas-Balen.
Take the SBB to Visp and change there to the Postbus towards Saas-Fee (Bus 511). Get off at the "Bidermatten" stop. The path starts at the bridge.
Various parking options are available in Saas-Balen and Bidermatten.
