Wine Trail

The Wine Trail is a discovery route divided into four themes and marked by 80 explanatory panels presenting the vineyard in its most varied aspects. Rest areas are available for visitors.

Theme 1 - A space for Man

The route, which passes through the winegrowers' districts of Villa and Muraz (witnesses of the transhumance of the winegrower farmers of the Anniviers valley), a little above the plain, offers a panorama and human achievements punctuating the course of history.

Theme 2 - Inspiring Country

Veyras, on the wine trail, represents a stopover, the place where the artist as well as the poet and the writer found both silence and light to build their work. Rainer Maria Rilke lived in the Muzot tower the last five years of his life. Maurice Chappaz and his wife Corinna Bille built a house there where they spent many years. As for Charles-Clos Olsommer, he found in the silence of his retirement and the contemplation of his meditation the raw material for his pictorial themes.

Along your journey, take the time to observe the work of the winegrowers; discover the richness of the Valais wine heritage with a visit to the museum's grape variety collection.

Theme 4 - The vine and nature

The bisse and the Raspille gorges, as well as the viewpoint overlooking the Rhône plain above Salquenen, offer an exceptional landscape where nature and vine are closely linked.
