Donzdorf lies in the Lauter valley, nestled in the hilly landscape of the Swabian North Eastern Alb. Dense forests, rugged rocks, orchards, and heathland shape the landscape. Donzdorf is the economic, transport, and cultural center of the Lauter valley. Its central location and variety of leisure opportunities make the town an attractive excursion and holiday destination. The town center is the Renaissance-style castle built in the 16th century with its dreamy castle garden. Old trees, rose and perennial beds, as well as numerous bronze sculptures invite visitors to linger. A seven-kilometer astronomical educational path begins in the castle garden. The beautiful landscape around Donzdorf can be enjoyed in many ways: as a hiker through fields and meadows, by bike along the Alb edge, playing golf on the challenging 18-hole course below the Ramsberg, or even from a bird's eye view as a sail, hang, or paraglider. Donzdorf is widely known as a Fasnet stronghold. The large fool’s parade on Carnival Sunday attracts thousands of visitors to the town every year.

This hike promises diverse impressions of nature with pleasant inclines and also offers wonderful wide views. The route passes extensive orchards, babbling creeks, and shady forests. Orchards are an ancient cultural heritage that, in addition to their practical use, are of high ecological value. The landscape around Donzdorf is largely characterized by orchards. Especially the section over the “Bülze” is a true natural paradise in spring when meadows and fruit trees are in full bloom. From the plateau of the Hochberg (585 m above sea level), paved as well as gravel paths mostly lead through shaded deciduous forests.
Wear sturdy, non-slip footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. A backpack with water, snacks, and a first aid kit is recommended.
Some paths can be slippery and dangerous when wet. Watch your step and use hiking poles if necessary for stability.

Respectful coexistence in the Göppingen district.
Code of conduct:
Respect path closures and the quiet zones developed in the leisure path concept. Leave no traces such as rubbish or animal droppings; treat your path gently. Act prudently and considerately. Adapt your behavior to the situation. Safety comes first. Respect other users of forest and fields. Consider animals and plants. Plan ahead and use daylight. Try to avoid dawn and dusk. Observe the prohibition of access to agriculturally used land during the growing season. Stay on designated paths and avoid forest edges so wild animals can better get used to humans.More information at ruecksicht-macht-wege-breiter.de
